Appreciation: Installation art is an artistic genre of three-dimensional works, using readymade products or complex materials which are assembled in indoor and outdoor venues to express specific ideas, emotions and experiences of an artist. It originated from the western modern art from early to middle of 20th century and has now become one of the popular styles of international contemporary art. It might be “a pile of waste” or “a transformation from the corruptible into the magical”, fulfilling with poetry and philosophy. Estonian’s female artist Tilu Kirsipuu’s installation art piece “Waiting for Spring” is full of simple and pure poetry. In cold winter in the north, we can see withered trees everywhere and the ground is blanketed with snow; birds have nowhere to forage so they migrate to the south. The empty bird nest under the shadow of dead branches is waiting for the coming spring and returning birds.

Tiiu Kirsipuu was born in 1957 in Tartu of Estonia and graduated from Estonian Academy of Art. Now she is a professor of the Tallinn University. She has participated in the 5th Beijing Biennale 2012, the Geumgang Nature Art Biennale in South-Korea 2012 and other exhibitions in Austria, China, Europe and so on.
