——The First Session of the Curatorial Committee of the 8th Beijing Biennale was Held in Beijing
The remarkable 19th CPC National Congress was held in the past 2017 and this year also marks the 15thanniversary of the Beijing Biennale. The 7th Beijing Biennale under the theme of “The Silk Road and World Civilization” was successfully held at the National Art Museum of China from September 24th to October 15th with 102 participating countries. It was not only the first time that it attracted over 100 participating countries, it is also the first exhibition in the world to have such a scale. It can be said that it is a United Nation of Art and it creates a new “Guinness” record.

Chairman Liu Dawei said in his remark that the 8th Beijing Biennale will not only stand high on the agenda of all those sponsors of the exhibition, it also will be a career all the members of the curatorial committee pursued and devoted to, seeing from the aspects of national policy, the historical context and the exhibition itself. He also said:“Wish the Beijing Biennale a complete success and a quantum leap. Based on the practice of the previous 15 years, it will definitely develop into‘a human community with shared destiny’for artists all over the world starting from the first session of the curatorial committee of the 8th Beijing Biennale, from the preliminary preparation to its final presentation.”

The heated discussion focused on the theme of the 8th Beijing Biennale and the modification of the regulations laid a solid academic foundation for the follow-up report and approval procedures. Based on previous sessions, there will be a year and a half between the first session and the opening ceremony for preparation. The report and approval, the theme and regulations release, the contribution solicitation, the translation and evaluation of works, the approval procedure of foreign affairs after the evaluations, the compiling and printing of catalogues, the transportation and customs clearance, the exhibition installation and publication will be launched one after the other. More information of the meeting will be released timely after implementing relevant approval procedures on the official wechat account and the website. Likewise, a promotion brochure of the 8th Beijing Biennale will be printed out and a press conference will be held to officially publicize the theme of the 8th Beijing Biennale.
