On August 5th, the newly-appointed Cultural Counselor Dr. Hussein Ibrahim met with vice General Secretary Tao Qin of the China Artists Association to discuss the Egypt’s participation of the 6th Beijing Biennale.
Egypt took part in every session of the Beijing Biennale since 2003 when it was held for the first time. One important topic of the meeting is whether the theme exhibition or the Egyptian special exhibition will be the choice of Egypt for the coming 6th Beijing Biennale. Dr. Hussein Ibrahim is an expert in Chinese and attaches great importance to the exhibition. During the meeting, Dr. Hussein Ibrahim raised a lot of detailed questions concerning international transportation, styles of the works and the theme of works after his comprehensive and careful research of previous Beijing Biennales. China Artists Association sincerely invites Egypt to hold Egypt Contemporary Art Special Exhibition in the 6th Beijing Biennale. Special exhibition is a concentrated reflection of the Egyptian contemporary art achievements and a prominent display of the Egyptian artists’ creative philosophy. Special exhibition in the 6th Beijing Biennale will serve as a platform for artistic exchange and dialogue between Egypt and the international community.
Both sides reviewed Egypt’s participation in the previous exhibitions with different theme respectively and watched the promotion video made by the Beijing Biennale Office. Dr. Hussein Ibrahim spoke highly of the Beijing Biennale. He said he would communicate with parties concerned positively to facilitate the cooperation between the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Egypt and the China Artists Association.
