On July 31st, at the invitation of Embassy of Ecuador, vice director Lv Yanfeng and members of the Beijing Biennale Office of China Artists Association accompanied Mr. Carlos Rodríguez A., Minister of the Embassy of Ecuador in China to visit the National Art Museum of China which is the venue for the past five Biennales for the preparation of Ecuador Contemporary Art Special Exhibition of the 6th Beijing Biennale. This is the first field trip from the part of the participating countries which want to apply and organize Special Exhibition in the 6th Beijing Biennale.
Both sides communicated and confirmed related issues of the coming exhibition, including the cooperation details, theme of works, the total length of exhibition line, design of the exhibition hall, collection, transportation and insurance of the works. This visit is the second communication between China Artists Association and Embassy of Ecuador after May 28th . Mr. Carlos Rodríguez A. says that the Republic of Ecuador attaches great importance to this cultural exchange activity. Holding the Special Exhibition in the 6th Beijing Biennale is considered as a platform for strengthening cultural exchange and friendship between China and Ecuador. The Embassy of Ecuador has listed it as one of the most important art exchange projects and it will recommend its “national treasure” Osvaldo Guayasamin and other four representative contemporary artists as major candidates for the Special Exhibition. Osvaldo Guayasamin is warmly received by Chairman Mao Zedong and Premier Zhou Enlai when he visited China in 1960s. The Republic of Ecuador, as its important status in art in Latin America, is positive in holding a Special Exhibition which can demonstrate its highest standard and its national characteristics.
Beijing Biennale Office and the Embassy of Ecuador will continue their contact with each other and make great efforts in a bid to promote and facilitate the “Ecuador Contemporary Art Special Exhibition of the 6th Beijing Biennale” .
